knights of badassdom
Filming with Peter Dinklage was badass in Knights of Badassdom. I purchased blood by the truckload. I reveal what it’s really like to work in Hollywood in my memoir MIRROR MIRROR: Confessions of a Celebrity Makeup Artist.

At Middleton
At Middleton was filmed on the WSU campus in Pullman, Washington with Oscar-nominated actors Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga. I was delighted to personally get to know these two mega movie stars and their families.
The Ward
If you're lucky you can work with an Academy Award-winning director John Carpenter, be the head of a large makeup, special effects and hair department, and spend hours and hours applying makeup to make clinically insane patients look like they have no makeup.
American Romance
We filmed American Romance in the backwoods of Idaho and I applied oodles of special effects makeup using latex, wax and peppermint mouth blood.
MOZART and the WHALE
Mozart and the Whale was based on the story of Jerry and Mary Newport, as told in an L.A. Times article. It’s a love story between two savants, “Donald” and “Isabelle.” They both had Asperger’s, a type of autism. The Asperger’s syndrome sabotaged their new, blossoming relationship. The two leads were cast with Josh Hartnett and Radha Mitchell. As filming progressed, I became very aware of the need to keep the makeup and hair expressive and carefree to signify the uniqueness needed to reflect each character. It was a creatively fun way to dance my way through a gig, which brought out the best parts of me. Look for my bunny tattoo drawing on “Izzy.”
RIVER MURDERS
In my book MIRROR MIRROR: Confessions of a Celebrity Makeup Artist I share behind the scene stories about a “big-fish” poker game with Ray Liotta.
GRIMM
Post production SPFX editing and makeup markings were fascinating lessons for me while filming 3 episodes of Grimm in Portland, Oregon.
SOMETHING WICKED
This was an unforgettable movie I shot with Taci in the early summer of 2009, with kind, talented Brittany Murphy. She brought her mama Sharon, and her adorable dog. Our base was in Eugene, Oregon, and one of our filming locations was along the gorgeous McKenzie River. For added kicks, Taci and I created our own entertainment. We initiated a game of “Incognito: Who will ultimately identify us as a mother-daughter duo?” Taci was careful to substitute “Trista” for “Ma,” which was entertaining in itself. Shortly after we finished filming Brittany died mysteriously.
home of the brave
Oscar nominated director Irwin Winkler kept me on my toes while filming this war time movie with lovely actress Jessica Biel.
LONELY HEARTS
Director T-Rob breathed fire down my neck for one day of shooting with Academy Award-winner Jared Leto. T-Rob is good at barking orders…a US Navy Submarine Corps veteran who had been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for lifesaving. He also served as a Poseidon Missile Tech… and yes, I was shaking in my boots.
NORMAN
Take after take I was in awe of the exceptional talent in this award winning film with Emily VanCamp, Dan Byrd and Oscar-nominated Richard Jenkins.
